What's an Überbaster?


The Überbaster is a poultry baster like you've never seen before. It's the world's first remote baster. Its unique design allows you to baste anything without opening the oven. Just attach the end of the long tube to the roast, close the oven door over the tube, and you're überbasting! It works perfectly with any home oven. Your roast will finish sooner and remain juicier than if you used your usual baster. It allows you to baste frequently without further risk of drying out your dinner. We consider opening your oven "risky behavior."

The tube is made of silicone so it won't melt in the oven unless you cook at a temperature higher than 500°, which you shouldn't be doing anyway. That would also be "risky behavior".

Liquid only flows in one direction; it goes in through the short tube, and out through the long tube. This special feature is what allows you to put liquid in the oven without opening the door. The action is simple: one pull of the syringe's plunger sucks liquid in, and a subsequent push squirts the liquid over your roast. You'll add flavor while saving time, money, and energy.

Use any flavorful liquid to baste. Some of the liquids we recommend are wine, stock, melted butter, brine, fruit juice, or any combination thereof. Use your imagination. For instance, try basting with a simple syrup during the final 20 minutes of cooking to candy the outside of the roast.
